UAE to Host IPL 2021 Remaining Matches in September-October 2021

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been postponed due to Corona. However, India is not willing to give up. UAE is likely to host the rest of the postponed IPL 2021 remaining matches in September-October 2021. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), headed by Sourav Ganguly, has decided to do just that.

The BCCI has not yet made an official announcement in this regard. However, the Times of India reports that the BCCI will make an official announcement on the rest of the IPL at a special general meeting on May 29.

The IPL was postponed on May 4 due to a number of cricketers and support staff being attacked by Corona. There were still 31 matches left in the tournament. The BCCI is facing the rest of the matches. Which will be held in the desert country in September-October this year.

The 13th edition of the IPL has been held entirely in the United Arab Emirates due to the deadly corona. However, the 14th edition was started in India by making bio-bubble in the middle of the corona.

The BCCI will announce it at the special general meeting. At the same time, the meeting may decide to reduce the five-match Test series between India and England. Because, the rest of the IPL involves the Indians tour of England.

The BCCI, in consultation with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), wants to reduce the duration of the series and start the rest of the IPL from September 15. However, England did not respond to India’s initial offer.

“If we get extra time from the England-India series, we will have a better time hosting the IPL,” a BCCI official told the Times of India. If time does not allow, Indian and England cricketers will have to leave the UK for the UAE within a day of the end of the Test series. In that case, there will be problems with the IPL schedule. If there is no agreement with the ECB, the BCCI will have to organize 26 matches in 24 days.
