Tom Blundell Injury Ahead of T20 World Cup 2021
Kiwi batsman Tom Blundell has been ruled out of the ODI series against Pakistan due to an injury. All-rounder Daryl Mitchell has been named to the New Zealand squad as his replacement. New Zealand Cricket (ZC) has confirmed Blundell’s injury. Kiwi physio Nishil Shah said he had been sent for rehabilitation in view of the summer season.
Regarding Bundle’s injury, he said, ‘Since he got injured in Bangladesh, he has worked hard to get back. We never want injury in this place. It is better to be in the rehabilitation process now with the summer season in mind.
Blundell suffered an injury while playing in the fourth T20 of the five-match series against Bangladesh. Due to this, he could not play in the last match of the series. He scored 42 runs in the first four matches of the series.
Tom Blundell made his ODI debut in February 2020. He has been out of the ODI team since then.
Daryl Mitchell, who was named in the squad instead of Blundell, was in the T20 squad. From there he was called up to the ODI squad. Mitchell made his debut in the ODI series against Bangladesh this year. He scored an unbeaten century in the last match of the series in Wellington.
