Namibia Historic Series Win Over Zimbabwe 2022
Namibia is a rising force in cricket, they have already participated in the ICC T20 World Cup. However, Namibia win a T20I series against Zimbabwe 2022 a team that is a full member of the ICC. This time Gerard Erasmus’s team has made history by accomplishing that impossible.
In the last and fifth match of the five-match T20 series 2022, they made history by defeating the host Zimbabwe by 32 runs and winning the series 3-2. This is their first series win against a full member of the ICC.
As the previous four matches were tied at 2-2, the last and fifth matches took shape in the series-determining match. Zimbabwe captain Regis Chakaba invited visiting Namibia to bat after winning the first toss at the Queens Sports Club ground in Bulawayo on Wednesday (May 24).
Craig Williams and Michael Van Lingen, two of Nanimia’s openers, got off to a great start. The duo put together a 31-run stand for the first wicket. After that Lingen was dismissed for 12 off 6 balls but Williams has fulfilled his responsibility.
Williams was dismissed for 48 off 39 balls with five fours. No one could stand after Williams was out. In the end, Namibia lost 6 wickets in 20 overs thanks to the help of Jan Frylink and Ruben Trumpelman and scored 128 runs on the scoreboard.
Frylink scored 15 and Trampleman 19 runs. Of the rest, six batters could not touch the double-digit house. Luke Jung, Wesley Madhavre and Sikander Raja took two wickets each for Zimbabwe.
Chasing the target of 128 runs, Zimbabwe started losing wickets at regular intervals from the start. At one stage they lost 5 wickets for 54 runs. Tony Munionga, one of the eleven batsmen, managed to cross the 20-run mark. Due to the failure of the rest, the once-mighty team was all out for 95 runs.
Jan Frylink and Erasmus took two wickets each for Namibia. None of the other bowlers remained wicketless. He took one wicket each.
