Johnny Bairstow, Joe Root and Daryl Mitchell have been shortlisted for The International Cricket Council’s ICC Player of the Month award men’s nomination for June 2022. They are in the race to be the best this time by performing impeccably in white clothes.

The ICC has released the list of nominees for June 2022. Kiwi middle-order batsman Daryl Mitchell has been shortlisted along with two English Test batsmen, Johnny Bairstow and Joe Root.

Johnny Bairstow:

The stylish England batsman is having a great time with the bat in the longest format of cricket this year. Bairstow has scored 394 runs at an average of 6.80 in the three-match ICC World Test Championship series against New Zealand. He scored two centuries and a half-century and was the third-highest run-getter in the series.

In the second Test at Trent Bridge, he recorded the second-fastest Test century for England, reaching a century in just six balls. His innings of 137 off 92 balls helped the team to take a 2-0 lead in the series. He won the Match of the Year award for his significant contribution. Bairstow could not be stopped. In the next match at Headingley, he scored England’s second-fastest 150 in 144 balls.

Daryl Mitchell:

New Zealand middle-order batsman Daryl Mitchell was not only in the run but also set and broke records. In three Tests against England, he scored 538 runs at an average of 106.60, including three centuries and two half-centuries. He topped the run-getter list of the series and became the fifth Kiwi batsman to score a century in three consecutive Tests. He also broke the 63-year-old record for the highest run by a New Zealand batsman in a Test series against England, surpassing Martin Donnelly’s 462 in 1949.

Joe Root:

Joe Root has maintained his great form in the Test format. He has been at the peak of his form for the last 12 months. He scored an unbeaten 115 in the second innings of the Lord’s Test against New Zealand. He touched the 10,000-run milestone in Test cricket this month. He rose to the top of the Test rankings in the 2nd and 3rd Tests. He has scored 398 runs at an average of 99 this month.
