Concerns have been raised since the New Zealand cricket team suspended the Pakistan series over security issues. Eventually, that fear came true. The England cricket team also cancelled its tour of Pakistan 2021. The English were scheduled to visit Pakistan in October before the World Cup 2021.

The English Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the information in a press release on Monday (September 20) night (Bangladesh time). Before the World Cup, the England cricket team was scheduled to tour Pakistan to play two Twenty20 matches on October 13 and 14.

In addition, the country was scheduled to play three ODIs (October 18, 19, and 21) against the Pakistan women’s team at the end of the men’s series. However, the ECB has canceled both the tours in the notification. “Despite the reluctance of the board, it has been decided to withdraw the two tours,” they said in a statement.

The England cricket team retreated mainly because of the fears that the New Zealand cricket team had created. As for the reason for canceling the tour, they said, “there are security concerns in the region (Pakistan).” It was also mentioned that ‘Kovid does not want to put more pressure on the team which has been in the situation for a long time.

The ECB, like New Zealand, has also expressed regret over the cancellation of the tour. They say, ‘We understand that the decision will disappoint the PCB. They are working relentlessly to bring international cricket back to the country. They have helped English cricket a lot in the last two summers, which is a sign of friendship. We are really sorry for the impact it will have on Pakistan cricket.
