Andy Flower Head Coach of Lucknow in IPL 2022
Lucknow will make its debut as a new franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower has taken over as head coach of the new franchise Lucknow in IPL 2022.
RP Sanjeev Goenka Group (RPSG), the owner of the franchise, has confirmed the appointment of Andy Flower. Although the appointment of a coach is final, the franchise has not yet made a decision on the name of the team.
Sanjeev Goenka, the owner of the Lucknow franchise, said the franchise has a long-term contract with Andy Flower. However, he did not confirm exactly how long the agreement has been in place. He has been appointed as the first member of the coaching staff of the franchise.
With experience working with the national team, the coach also regularly works with various teams in franchise cricket. Andy Flower coached England from 2009 to 2014. It was under his coaching that England won the T20 World Cup in 2010. He has also worked as a consultant for the Afghanistan team in the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup.
Andy Flower, 53, has been a coach and mentor in franchise cricket since leaving England. He has also worked in IPL, CPL, PSL, T-10 League, and The Hundred.
Andy Flower was Zimbabwe’s golden age cricketer. He played 63 Tests and 213 ODIs for the national team. Lucknow will make its debut as a new franchise in the 15th edition of 2022 IPL. The franchise is preparing to fight for the title from its first season.
